|Description||Bob Newell as a young boy. He graduated from Anacortes High School in 1934 as valedictorian with hopes of becoming a lawyer. Wallie Funk stated that Bob later became an architect in Los Angeles, California. While in high school he was active in football, debate, tennis, track, honor society, band, and annual staff. The 1921-1934 city directories listed only one Newell family in town. Seymour and Hilda Newell lived at 1305 7th Street. Seymour's occupation was "filer," indicating he probably worked in one of the mills or canneries.|
