Caption Children's Parade forming at 9th & Commercial
Description The "Juvenile" or Children's Parade of the Marineers' Pageant was usually held on Friday, separate from the big community parade held on Saturday. It had special categories of events: best decorated bicycle, best decorated doll buggy, etc. Most of these images (WF 1393.001-.023) appear to have been taken at or near where the parade was staged or ended: The Texaco Station on the northeast corner of Commercial and 9th, and the Union Oil Station on the southeast corner of Commercial and 9th. This image is of the parade forming up near the Texaco Station. This is a good view of the corner of 9th and Commercial, as well as 9th Street east of Commercial. Two houses are visible in the area now (1-2009) occupied by Cap Sante Motor Inn.
