Caption Summit Park Grange dedication
Description This view shows Summit Park Grange Hall dedication ceremony. Granges usually employed a panel of 16 officers including the Grange Master, Overseer (sort of a "vice-president" in charge of operations), Lecturer, Steward (purchasing), Assistant Steward, Gatekeeper, Chaplain, Treasurer, Secretary. "To ensure balanced representation for women," there was the Lady Assistant Steward and three "Court ladies or Graces" -- Ceres, Pomona, and Flora (Goddesses of grains, fruit and flowers). These women represent those latter officers ; note the initials on their sashes. People are unidentified.
