Caption c. 1941 Marineer Parade - School Safety Patrol
Description This is a safety patrol group marching at 18th and Commercial in a Marineer Parade c. 1941. A similar group is pictured in WF 1550, 1551. School safety patrols were responsible for helping students safely cross the street. At this time they were on buses as well as in front of schools.
South Side Texaco Service Station is at the right. It was first listed at 18th and Commercial in the 1948 directory; it was there in 1954, but gone by 1962.
