Caption Marineer Parade - marching band
Description This image of the Marineers' Pageant Parade looks south on Commercial at 4th to a band marching in the foreground. Excellent view of building from 5th to 8th. Anacortes Drug Company is visible at right on the ground floor of the Empire Building; the drugstore was located here c. 1905 - c. 1962, and its phone booth is in the Anacortes Museum collection. The Empire Building was built in 1905 and called the Medical-Dental Building at this time; note the "Dentist" sign on the second floor. The Bank of Commerce was built in 1926. Note the cars on the street. The postcard labeled negative says, "Marineers' Pageant, Anacortes, Wash., Aug. 1937, Brady."
