Caption POLLARD, William L. "Lawrence"
Description Lawrence Pollard is posed in his Anacortes Police Department uniform. According to Anacortes city directories, Pollard's given name was William L. Pollard; he apparently went by his middle name. He was first listed in the 1917 directory as a laborer. That year, and in 1921, he was listed as living with his mother, Eliza, widow of Charles Pollard, at 28th and J Avenue. By 1929, he was working as a longshoreman, and he and his wife, Leila, were living at 1410 9th Street. The 1937 directory had the same information, except that Leila was working at Farwest Fisheries. By 1948 Pollard was employed by the Anacortes Police Department.
