It includes a very heavy wool overcoat (2012.100.005.001); 1 suit coat (2012.100.005.002); 2 pair of pants (2012.100.005.003 and 004), and 1 tan tie (2012.100.005.005).
Pvt. Russell was assigned with the "army air corps at Rantoul, Illinois. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. L. E. Paugh of Shoemake Avenue. She graduated from Modesto High School and was a member of the band and orchestra. The benedict is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Russell of Modesto. He is a graduate of Modesto High School where he played in the band and belonged to the Camera Club.
The newly weds had a 10 day honeymoon which they spent in Chicago. They are residing in Rantoul" as read in the Modesto Bee after Feb 10, 1945.
Another news article from the Modesto Bee around 1946 read: "MODESTO SOLDIER GETS HONORABLE DISCHARGE Charles J. Russell recently received his homorable discharge from the army air forces at Denver, Colo. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Russell, Route 5, where he and his wife are now making their home.
Russell trained as a cadet in Texas, Illinois and Colorado.
